Camera Shy

Tamil plantation workers like these women were brought in by the British from south India as near slave labour to work on huge tea plantations in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands. Granted Sri Lankan citizenship after decades of statelessness, they still live in poverty, picking tea for a living. Shot in February 2014, with a Canon EOS 600, EF-S 18-200mm lens, and Hoya polarising filter, at 200mm, 1/100, f/5.6, and ISO 100.
