Doric House

Doric House by Son of the Morning Light on

The ruin of a Doric-style bungalow built in 1804 as a residence of Sir Frederick North, the then British governor of Ceylon. The house sits on the northwest coast of Sri Lanka, south of Mannar, and offers spectacular views of the Gulf of Mannar. Sadly, sea winds and erosion are steadily working on the fundations and walls, and what little is left will soon be gone. Additionally, the place is polluted with empty bottles and other garbage.
