Boiling Silver

Boiling Silver by Son of the Morning Light on 500px.com

A silver ring, freshly set with a blue moonstone, is dropped into a boiling solution to rid it of sealing wax picked up when the stone was mounted in a lapidary in Meetiyagoda, a small village that supplies most of the world’s blue moonstones. Shot on assignment for Explore Sri Lanka magazine. My story, Mining the Rare Blue Moonstones of Sri Lanka, ran in the February 2017 issue.
