The 13th century Thurant Castle, in the Moselle Valley, Germany. Much of the original buildings were destroyed in the 16th century War of the Palatine Succession, and were rebuilt and restored in the early 20th century. The castle was hit by a single American 155mm “Long Tom” shell two days before the end of World War II. Spring 2017.
