Shooting the Sun
Sunrise over Galle Bay, from the Aurora Bastion of the Galle Fort, Sri Lanka. Fittingly named for the Roman goddess of the dawn, this strongpoint is the best spot from which to take in the morning spectacle. While the current Galle Fort dates to the Dutch 17th century period, the 18th century naval fortress of Karlskrona in Sweden also boasts an Aurora Bastion, also facing east. For more on the Galle Fort and its bastions, check out my photo story, Climbing the Walls, in the January 2016 issue of Serendib, the inflight magazine of SriLankan Airlines.
