A farmer’s traditional breakfast of (clockwise from top) sour bananas, imbul kiribath (milk rice sweetened with coconut treacle), halape (a flat cake made of millet flour, coconut, and coconut treacle, steamed in a kenda leaf), milk rice and lunumiris (a spicy relish of onions and chillies), and weli thalapa (a sweet made of rice flour and coconut treacle). Shot close to Mawanella, on assignment for Serendib, the inflight magazine of SriLankan Airlines, for my story, Eating Like a Farmer, which ran in the May 2017 issue.
