Mace, Gannoruwa, Sri Lanka #4

Mace #4 by Son of the Morning Light on 500px.com

Blades of mace, the veiny outer covering of the dried nutmeg fruit (Myristica frangrans). Like nutmeg, which is the fruit’s kernel, mace too is used as a spice in food, giving a much more intense flavour than nutmeg; and described as a mix of cinnamon and pepper. Essential oils obtained from mace and nutmeg are also used in the perfume industry. Shot on assignment for Verge International, a producer and exporter of essential oils.
