Sigiriya, from Pidurangala #3

Sigiriya, from Pidurangala #3 by Son of the Morning Light on

The Sigiriya rock fortress in north-central Sri Lanka, as seen from Pidurangala, a mountain 800m to the north. Beyond Sigiriya, seen here in the morning glow, is the Sigiriya Tank, built by King Kashyapa I when he made Sigiriya his capital in the 5th century. In the distance are the northern foothills of the Central Highlands, close to Dambulla. Shot for my photos story on Sigiriya and Pidurangala, which runs in the April 2018 issue of Serendib magazine.
