Uchimunai Church, Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka

Uchimunai Church, Kalpitiya Sri Lanka by Son of the Morning Light on 500px.com
I don’t have a lot of information on this fisherman’s church on the tip of the Kalpitiya spit, except that it is Roman Catholic, and obviously not in regular use. I was told a mass is held once a year on its saint’s feast day. It’s design, the current renovations going on, and the dry sandy terrain around give it a decidedly Mexican feel. You can reach it by driving north along the Kalpitiya spit, but you’ll need a good dirt bike or 4×4 truck to navigate the deep sand; or you can do what I did in August 2017, and take a boat across the lagoon.
